Since 1982, The Center for Orthopaedics has been providing quality Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine for patients throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The Center for Orthopaedics also performs arthroscopic surgery for muscle, tendon, nerve and cartilage damage. Our interdisciplinary staff, trained in the latest technologies and techniques, with years of experience in all phases of orthopaedic care, is fully equipped to provide proper treatment at all stages.

Our physicians are trained in the latest Arthrosurface HemiCAP® knee resurfacing system, a technique of mapping the cartilage surface of the damaged joint and the placement of the appropriate HemiCAP® resurfacing prosthesis. The result is a restored, smooth and continuous articular surface that is designed to reduce pain and improve range of motion.

In-office Digital X-Ray services are provided by our X-Ray staff, trained in the latest orthopaedic radiology techniques. We accurately, conveniently and quickly provide critical information about any orthopaedic problem to your doctor.

The Center for Orthopaedics schedules physician appointments Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When you call to schedule your initial appointment, please have your insurance information available at that time. We will obtain as much information as possible to verify coverage prior to your appointment, so that we are able to properly assist you with our billing processes. Please schedule your appointments by calling 401.351.6200. To help expedite the registration process and decrease your waiting time in the reception area, our required forms are made available as downloadable links below. This allows you to print and complete the forms prior to the time of your appointment. We ask that ALL patients fill out these forms and bring them to their appointments, even if they think their information has not changed since their last visit.

PAY BILL

We are participating physicians with Blue Cross, Blue Chip, United Health, Medicare, Medicaid and Neighborhood Health Plans. We will submit claims to all commercial insurance plans. However, we advise you to check with your insurance carrier beforehand so that you are aware of exactly what your plan covers for non-participating carriers. At the time of this inquiry, you may also wish to clarify your co-pay responsibility. If you have been injured at work, we will submit your bill to the Worker’s Compensation carrier as long as we have been provided with all the proper information. You are responsible for any deductible, co-insurance or non-covered services. Unless your insurance plan covers office visits, you will be requested to pay at the time of each visit. Patient accounts are billed monthly. We accept cash, personal checks and credit cards. If you do not have insurance or require special payment arrangements, please call our Billing Office Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. at 401.351.6200, extension 311. We will work with you to arrange a personalized payment plan. Our billing office will also help answer any questions you may have about coverage.

Buonanno

A. Robert Buonanno, MD, FAAOS, FACS

Founder and principal of The Center For Orthopaedics, Dr. Buonanno specializes in Knee and Joint Replacement Surgery, for which he has been nationally noted, as well as General Orthopaedic Surgery.

Schooled at Cranwell Preparatory School and St. Michaels’s College, Dr. Buonanno went on to medical school at the University of Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine, and the New Jersey College of Medicine, receiving his MD in 1977. He completed his Surgical Categorical Internship at Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University Program in Medicine and completed his residency in 1982 from the Brown University Program in Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Buonanno is a Fellow, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; Fellow, American College of Surgeons; and Diplomat, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a past president and member of The Rhode Island Orthopaedic Society; past counselor and member of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; member of The Rhode Island Medical Society; member of The New England Orthopaedic Society; member of The Boston Orthopaedic Club. He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Arthro Surface, Massachusetts. Dr. Buonanno founded The Center for Orthopaedics in 1982.

A partner in The Center for Orthopaedics, Dr. Moss specializes in Sports Medicine and Reconstrucive Shoulder Surgery. Dr. Moss has praciced at The Center for Orthopaedics since 1998.

Dino brings many years of experience to the Center’s Physical Therapy Department working at the Miriam Hospital Outpatient Clinic and for the past eight years, as owner and physical therapist of Ciarniello Physical Therapy in Providence.

At the Center, Dino will be responsible for the Physical Therapy department, supervising the Physical Therapy staff including athletic trainers and physical therapy aides. He will evaluate and treat post-surgical orthropaedic and musculoskeletal patients, working closely with the Orthopaedic Surgical Staff.
